Tatarak

2008 (plans)

Andrzej Wajda plans to start shooting the film version of the story Tatarak by Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz in June 2008.

The movie will consist of two parts; the first is based on the Iwaszkiewicz story and the second on a text by Olga Tokarczuk.

Wajda has already filmed two Iwaszkiewicz stories – The Birch Wood [Brzezina] and The Maids of Wilko [Panny z Wilka], and making a film version of Tatarak has been on his mind for years.

Krystyna Janda will play the leading role of Marta, the aging doctor's wife who struggles with her reminiscences and into whose boring life love suddenly appears. Wajda would like Pawel Edelman to be his director of photography.
